Fort Collins is a great city to live in, especially if you’re raising a family. That’s why one of the most important things to consider when you’re moving into a neighborhood is the nearby schools.

Today, I’m going to discuss the four public high schools and which neighborhoods supply the best elementary and middle schools.

Before we jump into the top 11 neighborhoods for schools in Fort Collins, Colorado, I want to give you some background. We use GreatSchools.org based on their rankings for our school system in Fort Collins.

We have four public high schools. The oldest one is Fort Collins High School, located on the new campus. The newest high school is Fossil Ridge, and then Rocky Mountain and Poudre, serving our friends in the northwest. Fossil Ridge is ranked number 1 by GreatSchools.org due to many factors such as new buildings, high graduation rates, and so on.

Now let’s see the top 11 neighborhoods for schools in Fort Collins.

Fossil Ridge

Fossil Ridge is on the southeast side of town, the furthest southeast school.

It encompasses 5 of our top neighborhoods, the reason being the elementary school Werner and the middle school Preston rate really high as far as schools go.

These are the 5 neighborhoods for schools: Oakridge, Miramont, Huntington Hills, Brittany Knolls, Southridge Greens.

Rocky Mountain High School

Rocky Mountain High School is on the west side of town. There are 3 great neighborhoods for this school: Lexington Greens, Fairview, and Clarendon Hills.

In this part of the town, you have two different elementary schools, McGraw and Bennet, and from there two different middle schools as well, Blevins and Webber with similar rankings.

Fort Collins High School

Fort Collins High School is on the southeast side of town, but a little bit further north than Fossil Ridge. We have 2 neighborhoods for this school which are Timberline Village and Dakota Ridge.

The middle school in this area is Lesher and elementary school, Shepardson.

Poudre High School

Poudre High School encompasses a very large area, pretty much anything north of Vine and Elizabeth.

There are multiple elementary and middle schools that feed Poudre High School, but the best one and the best neighborhood is Dellwood Heights.

With all the growth that’s happening in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado, we do have a new high school coming in the fall of 2022. It’s going to be on the east side of i-25 and off Prospect Road. I believe it’s going to be a beautiful school with high rankings.
