We got Fort Collins in 15 minutes coming at you. We come at you once a week talking about things that have happened in Fort Collins, things that are planning, what you can do this weekend, city council recaps. And this week's going to be relatively quick because there wasn't a city council meeting. There was a special session where they were setting salaries for their three main employees, city manager, city attorney, and judge. But this week, this last week in Fort Collins, there was a mulberry fire that prompted some evacuations in Fort Collins right around June 11th. And it was on East Mulberry right near the Poudre River, which is always kind of nice because as far as if you were going to have a fire, you want it to be near a body of water that hopefully is surrounded by lush, not so flammable materials. But it's never a good thing when those happen. I follow Poudre Fire Authority on Instagram and they actually do a pretty good job of keeping things up to date. So relatively decent news source. Other than that, you know, we have Fort Collins setting their 4th of July celebration plans. They're changing things up this year. There's not going to be a 4th of July parade.

We went to it for the last couple of years. Actually, my wife Janae was the grand marshal in 2024, so two years ago. But this year, they're going to do some special things for the 250th anniversary of the United States and 150th anniversary of Colorado. They're looking at doing a touch a truck. I'm not sure exactly what all of that is going to look like and mean. They're still going to do the Firecracker 5K. They're still going to be doing all of their Independence Day celebrations at City Park and fireworks over Sheldon Lake. So plan for that. It is an absolute blast. But otherwise, Fort Collins and Boulder were named among the most pet-friendly cities in the United States, with Fort Collins coming in at number 8 and Boulder at number 10 among 76 of the largest US cities for pet-friendliness.

I definitely think it's kind of, it goes, I don't think there's a time where you could walk around Old Town, downtown Fort Collins without seeing somebody walking their dog. It is a major focus for people here in northern Colorado. This last weekend also, we had our groundbreaking ceremony on June 10th for the Southeast Community Center. Breaking ground on the Southeast Community Center. It's going to be a $100 million facility. Library, pools, outdoor, indoor, basketball courts, workout facilities. I mean, it's going to be a state of the art facility and it's going to be opening in 2028, which is wild. They're doing the groundbreaking in June and I think their expected open date is like spring of 2028. So a couple year build, but we will see that in the making right off of Ziegler and Rock Creek over by Twin Silo Park and Fossil Creek Park. Also, the Poudre River Trail opened up. They had their grand opening on June 13th. 45 miles connecting Bellevue to Greeley, 18 miles of which are in Fort Collins and this is a 50 year in the making plan. I thought I did some research because I, you know, this was a pretty substantial project that came to be. Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, all very intentional about their growth of their trail system and then Greeley actually just passed a high priority next 10 years, 16 mile plan to build out their, you know, basically to build out their trail infrastructure. So, you know, it just kind of goes to show what people are finding to be important here in Fort Collins, Northern Colorado.

As for things to do this weekend, we do have the Juneteenth celebration coming up this Friday. So plenty going on around the Foothills Mall, around Fort Collins, Northern Colorado. There is a collective market downtown Fort Collins, June 20th, 10 a.m. The Northern Colorado Home Show, June 19th through the 21st at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. Summer concert series starting off in Windsor at the Boardwalk Community Park, 6 30 to 8 30 p.m. June 18th. So it looks like that's going to be on Thursday nights. Fort Collins Foodie Walk every third Friday in downtown Fort Collins. As always, Lagoon Concert Series every Wednesday night.

Bohemian Nights Thursday down in Old Town Fort Collins, 7 to 9 p.m. Yoga in the Square this weekend. So if you're looking for something to do, Fort Collins Farmers Markets, Larimer County Farmers Markets. There are farmers markets all over the place and then, you know, just a lot of different things going on, you know, on a day-to-day basis. Downtown Old Town Fort Collins. Now this is Fort Collins in 15 minutes but City Council didn't have a review and there really wasn't that much in the news that I saw at least. It's 70 acres to the east side of the Bloom development that's going to be built out.
